Join City Repertory Theatre for auditions for PUFFS (Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic), a hilarious and heartfelt parody that follows the overlooked students of a magical world as they navigate friendship, challenges, and the chaos happening all around them.

Puffs is a fast-paced parody that follows a group of well-meaning, underdog students at a certain magical school. While a famous boy with a lightning scar saves the world, the Puffs are left to navigate friendships, classes, and the chaos unfolding around them.

The play is comedic and heartfelt, focusing on overlooked characters who ultimately discover their own sense of identity, importance, and belonging.

Total Cast Size: 11–12 actors

Roles: 30+ characters through doubling

Gender: Flexible casting; all roles open to all performers

Key Roles Include:

• Wayne Hopkins – earnest, awkward, and sincere
• Oliver Rivers – energetic, optimistic, and comedic
• Megan Jones – dry, guarded, and emotionally grounded
• Narrator – high-energy storyteller with strong command of pacing
• Ensemble – multiple roles requiring physical comedy and quick character changes

• Prepare a 1–2 minute comedic monologue
• Participate in improv exercises and games
• Wear or bring comfortable clothing suitable for movement

Callbacks (by invitation only):

Selected actors will be asked to read sides from the script.

We are seeking performers with:

• Strong comedic instincts
• Comfort with physical comedy and fast-paced staging
• Ability to portray multiple distinct characters
• A collaborative, ensemble-focused spirit

Rehearsals are typically held in the evenings, Sunday through Thursday.

Not all actors will be called to every rehearsal.

Tech week attendance is mandatory for all cast members.

• Actors must be 15 years or older
• Actors under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature

This production includes parody humor and mild language.

Overall tone is PG-13.

• Please bring a list of any scheduling conflicts
• Headshots and resumes are not required but are welcome
• Performers of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to audition
